You need to try the soybean curd stew. Or the tofu stew. It was so good! This place is busy but it's cus it's really good. Saw so many other things that looked good. I got the kimchi soybean curd stew and it was so good! I want to try the perilla seed soybean curd stew next time. My friend said she really liked it when she got it. I would def take my friends and family here. The side dishes are also so good! I prob wouldn't get the bossam. It had the pork smell which I don't care for.. kind of reminds me of the pork smell from okdongsik's pork stew. Anyway, def going again and trying other things...

What an amazing restaurant. There was a wait, but it's worth it. Came here for the first time on a Monday around 530pm, right after they opened for dinner and it was packed as sardines. You put in your name and number and they will text you when it's your turn. You got under 5 min to respond before they give the spot to someone else lol. We already knew what to order due to ordering anxiety, they also have menus outside with photos so you can look while waiting. Flavored rice was so good, I ended up loving the octopus rice the most. Octopus leg was SO SOFT. As if it was cooked in a sous vide method. The eggplant rice was too salty for me but still good. Egg omelet was insane. It was so flavorful! The fish roe was delicate and mixed well with the sauce drizzled outside. Mekgeolli- Korean rice wine- was my friends fav. She killed it lol it was so good and came in a cute bowl and have such a retro Joseon vibe. Such a good deal too, $16-17 for a big bowl of alcohol. And a good place to start if you are new to Korean rice wine. That veggie wheat pancake is my all time fav, even more than the normal seafood pancakes. Something about it that's so good, don't sleep on it. The eggplant in the pancake is chef's kiss. It comes with a sweet vinaigrette soy sauce, I'm drooling thinking about it now. I ordered the galbi jjim to go and my picky Korean bf loves it so much he wants more lol. It's pricey but the amount you get is worth it! I can't wait to go back! The only thing I didn't care for was the seafood spicy pork. It wasn't anything special and taste similar to any other Korean shop in ktown. PS service was phenomenal. Will 10000000% return. This is a great place for a date or a place to take a friend from out of town to impress them.

Came on a Saturday night and waited 50 minutes in the rain but it was worth it. We were seated at 8:55 and they close at 9:15. We did not feel rushed - service was courteous. They serve 5 side dishes and a small bowl of fresh tofu to start. The homemade makgeolli with pears sweet and deceptive. We started with the cod roe omelette - superb! Next the spicy seafood rice cakes - pack a punch but the seafood is perfectly cooked. I got perilla seed tofu stew and naengi eggplant rice. Both were subtly flavored and delicious.

Came here for dinner on a Wednesday night. Unfortunately they don't take reservations so we waited about an hr. Although at the end of the night we felt like the wait was pretty worth it. The restaurant environment was nice, very spacious, not too loud. Our servers were so nice. The service really stood out to me bc all the staff were so courteous and patient with explaining the food to us even though they are clearly so busy already. The food was amazing too! Loved the seafood pancakes and my perilla seed tofu, which is a completely new flavor that I'm not used to, but really appreciated! Not to mention the price of this place, I only spent about $30 with tax/tip combined! We were so full and felt everything was so worth it. Definitely recommend!

My family and I decided to have dinner at the restaurant on a weekend. Luckily, we arrived before the rush hour so the wait for the next table was not too long. The restaurant is popular and known for their homemade tofu so we ordered a tofu stew along with other dishes. Most of the dishes were very good and a few were average. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and the staff were very friendly and fast.

Ok the cod roe omelette was truly divine, I did not know egg could turn into this. The egg had a fluffiness beyond what I've ever seen before. The cod roe inside and green tea mayo on top blended together to create an irresistible burst of flavor, full of umami and creaminess. Absolutely incredible. The sundubu however, it kind of missed. We got 3 sundubus, the spicy one was the best but even that one wasn't great. The other two were watery and flavorless. The mushroom rice was ok, I do like the mushroom elevation. Will be back to actually try their main dishes and the cod roe omelette again, when I'm ever in the mood to wait 1.5 hours for a table.

This is now my favorite Korean restaurant in NYC. My friend got here and put our names down for a table, and we walked around while we waited for the text. On a Thursday night, total wait was around 1 hr and 15-30 minutes? Worth the wait. Service was quick and friendly. Small place. Clean bathroom. Highly recommend: - Cod roe omelette - Peak makgeolli - Jap chae - Seafood pancake Will definitely come back!

Very good kimchi dubu jjigae and bean curd soup in the heart of Manhattan's Koreatown. Yesterday, while in the city, we were looking for a Korean restaurant that served a variety of soup dishes, since we were in the mood for soup. Luckily, while searching around, we came across Cho Dang Gol; we were immediately drawn by the menu with photos outside the restaurant. When we visited, the restaurant was packed despite being a few minutes before 12 pm, but partially due to how early we came we were seated pretty quickly. After we had a chance to look at the menu, we settled on a bean curd soup with mushroom rice set and a kimchi dubu jjigae with mushroom rice set. I really enjoyed my spicy kimchi dubu jjigae which paired well with the savory flavor of the mushroom rice. I also had a chance of the bean curd soup which was also very good. Pricewise the kimchi dubu jjigae set was fair (though likely more expensive than what I'm used to in New Jersey). The service was also quite good. All in all, though, we really enjoyed our visit and will go again.

Ended up here last minute after we realized our original destination had over an hour wait. It was a chilly night so we knew soup/stew would really hit the spot. There was about a 15 minute wait when we arrived which wasn't a big deal, but I was very surprised to see the place packed on a weeknight. The service was so fast and our food came out before we were ready.
